What is included in the study guide:
The purpose of the study guide is to support teachers in teaching the four shorter literary genres which include short stories, folklore, poetry and drama. Guidelines and activities within this guide and the wonderful collection of fiction within the anthology, will expose learners to different literary genres. The carefully selected content will encourage learners to read and write and to talk about what they have read.
The study guide will support teaching in enhancing learners’ knowledge and comprehension of the literary elements of the different genres, improve their language skills and develop their critical thinking ability. Reading for enjoyment can also have a positive impact on creativity and the learners’ cultural awareness. Texts learners read at school level could possibly have a lifelong impact on learners’ love for reading and it is therefore crucial that learners read interesting, thought provoking, humorous and well-written stories and poems.

What is included in the studyguide:
The study guide is an extension of the anthology compiled especially for the literature project of term 3 in the high school. The terminology of each genre is discussed, there are questions and answers, vocabulary games, analysis of the texts and different assignments of the literature task. With al the genres on hand, teachers can use the compilation and guide throughout the year. Everything was done according to the requirements of CAPS.
