Shortlist for our Youth Novel Competition announced!
The shortlist LAPA's 2025 Youth Novel Competition is now out! This competition is held every two years, and as in the past, some of our country’s most popular authors and previous winners have once again taken up the pen.
The shortlist is as follows:
Juanita Aggenbach (Anderkant oorbegin)
Nerine Ahlers (Die onverwagte avontuur van Alex de Beer)
Nikè Bekker (Ag, sit stil Arend! Of val af)
Zelda Bezuidenhout (Die Tusseninners)
Francois Bloemhof (Die Vreeslike Familie Venter)
Carina Diedericks-Hugo (Algoritme van skuld)
Annelie Ferreira (Vier en ’n half redes)
Hendie Grobbelaar (Voetpad na die maan)
Jacolet van der Berg (Die Fluisteraar)
Fanie Viljoen (Die seun met die swaeltjie)
The competition prize money totals R60,000, and even authors who don’t finish in the top three still have a chance to be published.
Congratulations to the authors on this outstanding achievement! The winners will be announced at a special event on Thursday, 14 May 2026.
